El hip-hop se ha convertido, desde hace décadas, en el mayor exponente de la cultura urbana, constituyendo todo un símbolo de la cultura popular actual. Nacido a finales de los 60, este movimiento artístico y social originariamente aúna, en sus cuatro pilares clásicos o disciplinas (Mcing, DJing, graffiti y B-boying) las artes plásticas, escénicas y musicales, confiriendo al fenómeno de una dimensión holística, asimilable al concepto histórico de «obra de arte total» (Gesamkunstwerk). #galerialamerceria #lamerceria
Heredero indirecto de la Vanguardia en su propósito de unir arte y vida, tanto el hip-hop como el arte urbano en general cuestionan la tradicional dicotomía entre el arte culto y el arte popular, actuando como puente conciliador entre supuestas diferencias históricamente construidas: lo académico y lo popular, lo oficial contra lo marginal, lo mainstream frente a lo underground, etc. El hip-hop nació de un grito, de la necesidad de usar el arte como herramienta de expresión y transformación social.
Los tiempos han cambiado. Hoy el hip-hop ha sabido integrarse en todos los ámbitos de la cultura artística; por supuesto, en conciertos y festivales, pero también en series, películas, exposiciones, moda. De ese modo, tanto el hip-hop como la cultura urbana en general sirven también como termómetro sociocultural, que evidencia la necesidad que tiene la Institución Arte de revisarse, actualizarse y reflexionar sobre sí misma.
Por esa razón, desde Centre Pompidou Málaga y Colección Museo Ruso se han propuesto una serie de actividades que servirán para dar voz a diferentes creadores que representan cada práctica artística del movimiento dentro y fuera de nuestra ciudad, pero también como punto de encuentro e intercambio de ideas entre el artista y el público, que vive la cultura día a día, más allá de los museos.

«Desde sus inicios a mediados de los años sesenta y hasta el final de los años ochenta (la época dorada de los vagones del metro de Nueva York), el graffiti (writing) experimentó una evolución artística muy acelerada en tan solo unos pocos años y fue en parte gracias a una de las herramientas más privadas de los writers y menos conocidas por el gran público: los black-books, los cuadernos de dibujo donde los escritores de graffiti preparan sus bocetos previos.» Fasim

C’est le sympathique Germán Bel / Fasim, qui à l’occasion de sa conférence à Malaga, nous en livrera les rouages.

Hip-hop has become, for decades, the greatest exponent of urban culture, constituting a symbol of today’s popular culture. Born at the end of the 1960s, this artistic and social movement originally unites, in its four classic pillars or disciplines (Mcing, DJing, graffiti and B-boying) the plastic, scenic and musical arts, giving the phenomenon a holistic dimension, comparable to the historical concept of «total work of art» (Gesamkunstwerk).
Indirect heir of the Avant-Garde in its purpose of uniting art and life, both hip-hop and urban art in general question the traditional dichotomy between cultured art and popular art, acting as a conciliatory bridge between supposedly historically constructed differences: the academic and the popular, the official versus the marginal, the mainstream versus the underground, etc. Hip-hop was born from a cry, from the need to use art as a tool for expression and social transformation.
Times have changed. Today hip-hop has been able to integrate itself into all areas of artistic culture; of course, in concerts and festivals, but also in series, films, exhibitions, fashion. Thus, both hip-hop and urban culture in general also serve as a sociocultural thermometer, which shows the need for the Art Institution to review, update and reflect on itself.
For this reason, the Centre Pompidou Malaga and the Russian Museum Collection have proposed a series of activities that will serve to give voice to different creators who represent each artistic practice of the movement inside and outside our city, but also as a meeting point and exchange of ideas between the artist and the public, who live the culture every day, beyond the museums.

From its beginnings in the mid-sixties to the end of the eighties (the golden age of the New York subway cars), graffiti (writing) experienced a very accelerated artistic evolution in just a few years and it was partly thanks to one of the most private tools of writers and less known to the general public: the black-books, the sketchbooks where graffiti writers prepare their preliminary sketches.
With collaborations from New York, Philadelphia, Germany, Italy and Spain.
